Chimney Sweep Leyton
Stove and open fire sweeping in Leyton, Leytonstone, Cann Hall and Bakers Arms. Every sweep comes with a smoke test and a certificate, from £95.
Chimney sweeping in Leyton and Leytonstone
Leyton and Leytonstone are mostly two-storey Victorian terraces, built quickly for railway commuters at the end of the 1800s. Many still have a fireplace in each of the main rooms, all feeding a shared stack on the party wall. That's a lot of flues in a small space, and when only one is in use the others tend to collect soot falls, nests and damp.
A big share of homes round here have been split into flats or extended into the loft, and the chimney is often the bit nobody thought about. We regularly find breasts removed on one floor but not the next, and old flues capped at the pot but still open at the grate. We look at the whole route before we sweep, not just the part in your room.
Leyton and Leytonstone sit inside Waltham Forest's smoke control area. If you're planning a stove, go for a Defra-exempt model, and if you've already got one, stick to the fuels it's approved for. We're happy to talk it through. Our East London chimney sweep page covers the wider area.

What we find in Leyton chimneys
The problems we come across most in Leyton and Leytonstone terraces.
Soot falls from flues nobody uses
When one fireplace in a terrace is lit and the others aren't, the unused flues collect debris that drops into the room. A sweep plus a cap or bird guard puts a stop to it.
Converted houses with mixed-up flues
After a conversion it isn't always clear which pot belongs to which fireplace. We trace and smoke-test the flue before we sweep, so we're cleaning the right one.
Wood burners on smoke control streets
Plenty of E10 and E11 homes now have a stove. We check it suits a smoke control area, sweep the flue and service the stove if the seals or glass need attention.

Leyton chimney sweep FAQs
Questions we get asked in Leyton and Leytonstone.
Do you cover my part of East London?
Round here we cover Leyton, Leytonstone, Cann Hall, Bakers Arms, Harrow Green and the Whipps Cross side, so most E10 and E11 addresses. We also work across Walthamstow and Woodford.
Can I use a wood burner in a London smoke control area?
You can, but the stove has to be Defra-exempt, or you have to burn an authorised smokeless fuel in it. Leyton and Leytonstone are covered by Waltham Forest's smoke control rules, so damp logs on a non-exempt stove aren't an option. Check the data plate, or ask us when we visit.
My terrace has several fireplaces. Do I need them all swept?
Only the ones you use, plus any you plan to bring back into use. Unused flues are worth capping or fitting with a bird guard to keep out debris and damp. We price each flue before we start.
Do I need a certificate for my landlord or insurer?
Most home insurers and many tenancy agreements ask for proof the chimney has been swept. You get a certificate with every sweep. Read more on our chimney sweep certificate page.
How much does a sweep cost in Leyton?
From £95 per flue, covering the sweep, inspection, smoke test, clean-up and certificate. Add a camera survey from £75, or book both from £170. No extra charge for London postcodes.
