We're a female-led team based in Harlow, and our East London work is centred on Waltham Forest and the Redbridge side of the borough line: Walthamstow, Leyton and Leytonstone, Chingford, Woodford, Wanstead and South Woodford. Can I use a wood burner in a London smoke control area?
Yes, as long as it's a Defra-exempt appliance or you burn an authorised smokeless fuel. Burning ordinary logs on a non-exempt stove or an open fire in a smoke control area can lead to a fine. We'll look at your stove's details when we visit, and your council can confirm the rules for your address.
How much does a chimney sweep cost in East London?
From £95 for a standard sweep, which covers the sweep, a visual inspection, a smoke test, clean-up and your certificate. A CCTV flue inspection is from £75 on top, or from £170 for both. There's no London surcharge and no hidden call-out fee.
I live in a converted flat. Can you sweep my chimney?
Usually, yes. We confirm which flue serves your fireplace, check the pot and cowl from the ground, and smoke-test to make sure nothing is leaking into the flat above or below. If the stack is shared, it's worth letting your freeholder or neighbours know.
Can you check an old fireplace before I start using it?
Yes. For a fireplace that hasn't been used in years we recommend a sweep and CCTV inspection together (from £170). It shows blockages, cracked pots or a missing liner before you light anything. See our CCTV chimney inspection page.
